Are the Turbo Trans ams rare?
I know someone who has an SC Trans and a Turbo Trans....Both white with the Turbo fan wheels...

2nd or 3rd gen? 2nd gens aren't too rare. They also have a habit of blowing up and thus aren't too valuable. Emma, my car, came from the factory as a turbo car. 3rd gen turbo cars were almost always white, we're quite quick, and are going up in value.

The 77 and 78 noses are so good looking though. I'm putting a 78 front on my 1981 car

To bad it had a pile-of-garbage 301 turbo and couldn't get out of it's own way.

I detect a bit of bias in your post. :)

It had the most power of all post 455 2nd gens... And more power than most other US autos of the time

Been away for few days, hence the late response.
The 301 turbo did not have the highest hp rating of any 2nd gen TA after the 455 went out of production. The 301 turbo was rated at 210 in '80 & 200 in '81. The W72 400 in '78 & '79 was rated at 220hp AND available with a manual gearbox. The turbo only came bolted to a slush box. Look up old road tests of these cars and you'll find the 400s, while not fast, were the quickest cars of their day that average people could afford. And with a little work (exhaust, cam, carb) they could be made fast by anyone with some basic mechanical skills. The 301 turbos however were absolute dogs with 1/4 miles times 1-1.5 seconds slower then the 400s.
Ever driven a 301 turbo TA? I drove one in '87. Rich kid in school had one and after I thrashed it with my '78 Regal with a junkyard 400 Chevy in it I talked him into letting me drive it. It was truly a slug with no throttle response and it pinged like crazy.
